In a significant boost to the culinary scene on the island of La Gomera, the town of Vallehermoso is set to become a premier center for restaurant training, thanks to a collaborative effort between Hoteles Escuela de Canarias (HECANSA), the Cabildo Insular de La Gomera, and the local municipality.

Innovative Training Program

The program kicks off on November 18 with a course on "Formación y Comunicación en Oratoria" led by María José Enríquez, a renowned communicator. This course will focus on improving vocal techniques and public speaking confidence. On the same day, Nancy Melo from the Consejo Regulador de La Gomera will conduct a "Formación Técnica de Vinos Canarios," where participants will learn about the value of local viticulture and wine tasting techniques.

Further courses include a session on "Estrategias de Marketing para Restaurantes" by Ailen Rodríguez, an expert in social media, scheduled for November 25. This course will cover everything from creating a digital brand identity to planning effective social media content.

In December, the program will feature a "Taller Intensivo de Iniciación al Barismo" with Jhon Ardila, founder of JR. Roaster, on December 2. This intensive workshop will introduce participants to the art of barista skills. Finally, on December 9, Chef Abraham Ortega from the Tabaiba restaurant will conduct a Master Class on modern cuisine, focusing on the creative use of local products such as gofio and cheese.

Collaboration and Commitment

This initiative underscores the commitment of the Ayuntamiento de Vallehermoso, HECANSA, and the Cabildo de La Gomera to the development and professionalization of the restaurant sector on the island. By providing specialized training, the partners aim to enhance the quality of local restaurants, thereby supporting the local economy and promoting sustainable tourism.
