Vallehermoso Invests in Community Development: New Gym, School, and Cultural Initiatives
In a significant move to enhance the quality of life and community facilities, the municipality of Vallehermoso on the island of La Gomera has approved several key initiatives during a recent extraordinary plenary session.
New Municipal Gymnasium
One of the major resolutions involves the allocation of €180,000 for the construction of a new municipal gymnasium. This project, funded by the Fondo de Desarrollo de Canarias (FDCAN), will see the gymnasium located at the local football field. The investment is part of a broader effort to improve sports facilities in the area, providing residents with modern and well-equipped spaces for physical activity.
Advancements in Education
The plenary session also made significant progress on the upcoming new infant school. The approval of the necessary procedures for the school's tender marks a crucial step towards enhancing the educational offerings for families in Vallehermoso. The new school will provide a suitable environment for the care and development of young children, addressing a long-standing need in the community.
Cultural and Patrimonial Initiatives
Vallehermoso's commitment to culture and local heritage was further underscored with the approval of a collaboration agreement between the municipality, the University of La Laguna, and the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna. This agreement includes the creation of a bronze sculpture dedicated to the renowned poet Pedro García Cabrera, a figure of great importance to the municipality. The sculpture will be part of the commemorative events for the Fiestas Lustrales 2025, highlighting the town's rich cultural heritage.
Fiestas Patronales and Community Celebrations
The plenary session also approved an agreement between the Ayuntamiento de Vallehermoso and the Cabildo de La Gomera to support the celebration of the patron saint festivals in honor of San Juan Bautista and Nuestra Señora del Carmen. These festivals are integral to the town's tradition and cultural life, and the agreement ensures the necessary support for their successful execution.
Infrastructure and Community Development
In addition to these initiatives, Vallehermoso has also been working on other community development projects. For instance, the municipality recently adjudicated the rehabilitation work for the La Rodadera track, further enhancing the town's infrastructure and recreational facilities.
These developments reflect the municipality's proactive approach to improving the lives of its residents, from enhancing sports and educational facilities to celebrating and preserving local culture and heritage. As Vallehermoso continues to grow and develop, these initiatives are set to make a significant impact on the community's well-being and quality of life.
