In a poignant display of resilience and dedication, Spanish peacekeepers serving in Lebanon as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) have released a video to reassure their families back home of their well-being and high morale.

The video, published on October 20, 2024, features 16 soldiers and workers from the Base Miguel de Cervantes, which is the Spanish military base in Lebanon. This base is home to around 650 Spanish personnel who are part of the UNIFIL mission.

Soldier Jiménez reassures the families, "Este mensaje está dirigido a vosotros, para deciros que aquí todo está bien, que estéis tranquilos" (This message is for you, to tell you that everything is fine here, and you should be calm).

Addressing Recent Tensions

In light of the recent conflicts in the region, Soldier Lapeña addresses the concerns of the families directly: "Sé que puede parecer que estamos muy mal aquí en el Líbano, por las circunstancias que se están viviendo en el país, pero nada más lejos de la realidad, estamos bien" (I know it may seem that we are doing very badly here in Lebanon, due to the circumstances being experienced in the country, but nothing could be further from the truth, we are fine).

Emphasizing Camaraderie and Purpose

Soldier Vieri mentions, "Somos compañeros de diez trabajando juntos" (We are ten colleagues working together), while Soldier Curiel adds, "Nos apoyamos unos a otros" (We support each other). Guardia Feito says, "Queremos agradecer todos los mensajes de apoyo y cariño; decir a nuestros familiares y amigos que nos encontramos bien y con la moral muy alta, y que dentro de pocas semanas, y con la satisfacción del deber cumplido, nos encontraremos para celebrarlo" (We want to thank all the messages of support and affection; to tell our family and friends that we are fine and with high morale, and that in a few weeks, with the satisfaction of duty fulfilled, we will meet to celebrate).

The video concludes with a heartfelt message from Soldier Amor: "Familia, nos vemos muy pronto, ya no queda nada, un beso a todos" (Family, we will see you very soon, there is not much left, a kiss to all).
