Christmas Lights Switch-On: A Spectacular Display

The festive season in Santander kicked off with the "Encendido del Alumbrado Navideño," a grand event featuring the switch-on of approximately 3.3 million LED lights, various 3D figures, and a majestic Christmas tree in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. The Ruta por los Belenes de Navidad, organized by the Asociación Belenista de Santander, features 47 beautifully crafted nativity scenes displayed across various locations in the city. Running from December 4, 2024, to January 7, 2025, this event is free to visit and includes a special guidebook detailing the unique locations and times of each nativity scene.

San Silvestre Race

On December 31, the streets of Santander will host the 41st edition of the San Silvestre race, a "great festival of athletics" that promotes sport and well-being. The event includes various categories, including one for children with disabilities, and offers free participation for categories up to infantile (13 years old). The race starts at 16:50 hours with the disability category, followed by other categories until the popular race at 18:00 hours.

Solidarity and Giving

In the spirit of giving, the Ayuntamiento de Santander distributed over 1,300 portions of roscón solidario and chocolate in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, priced at 1 euro, to raise funds for the Asociación para la Organización de la Cabalgata.
