New Initiative to Boost Local Economy: Adeje's Restaurant Voucher Campaign
In a significant move to bolster the local economy, the municipality of Adeje in the Canary Islands has launched an innovative campaign aimed at supporting the restaurant sector. This initiative, titled the "Campaña de Bonos de Restauración" (Restaurant Voucher Campaign), is a collaborative effort between the Ayuntamiento de Adeje (Adeje Town Council) and the Asociación de Empresarios, Comerciantes y Profesionales de Adeje (AECPA - Association of Entrepreneurs, Merchants, and Professionals of Adeje).
Economic Boost and Consumer Incentives
The campaign, which will run from November 1 to November 30 or until the vouchers are exhausted, involves an economic injection of 50,000 euros. The town council is financing 50% of the total cost, amounting to 25,000 euros, demonstrating a strong commitment to local economic recovery. Consumers will be able to purchase vouchers at a discounted price, with each voucher valued at 20 euros but available for just 10 euros. This not only offers significant savings to consumers but also directly supports local businesses.
Participation and Benefits
Restaurants and other food establishments in Adeje can participate in the campaign by registering from September 16 to November 30. Consumers can purchase up to eight vouchers, potentially saving up to 80 euros and injecting up to 160 euros into participating businesses. Each establishment can receive up to 2,000 euros in vouchers, which is expected to double their sales during the campaign period.
Long-Term Impact
The campaign is designed to go beyond immediate consumption boosts. It aims to foster long-term relationships between customers and local restaurants, enhancing the visibility and attractiveness of these businesses. According to Alberto Álvarez Jiménez, the councilor responsible for Economic Development and Employment, the campaign is expected to increase sales in the restaurant sector by 30% during November, contributing significantly to the economic recovery of the local commercial sector.
Ease of Access and Community Support
To facilitate participation, both for businesses and consumers, the town council has set up a dedicated platform at www.consumeadeje.com. Additional support includes video tutorials and a customer service hotline. Jordi Esplugas, president of AECPA, emphasized that such campaigns benefit not only the directly involved restaurants but also have a multiplier effect, improving consumers' perception of local products and services.
This initiative underscores the importance of supporting local commerce, a fundamental pillar of Adeje's economy, and is a welcome move for both local businesses and expat residents looking to enjoy the local culinary scene while contributing to the community's economic well-being.
