Mobile Clean Point to Visit Casas de Aguilar This Friday
This Friday, November 8, 2024, the Mobile Clean Point (Punto Limpio Móvil) of the Gran Canaria Cabildo will be making its way to the Casas de Aguilar neighborhood, providing residents with a convenient and environmentally friendly way to dispose of various types of household waste.
Location and Schedule
The Mobile Clean Point will be set up near the polideportivo (sports center) in Casas de Aguilar, operating from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This strategic location is part of the Cabildo's efforts to facilitate waste disposal for residents in the median areas of the island.
Types of Waste Accepted
The Mobile Clean Point is equipped with multiple compartments designed to handle a wide range of household waste that cannot be deposited in conventional waste bins. Residents can dispose of items such as small appliances, aerosol cans, batteries, used cooking oil, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, paper and cardboard packaging, glass, plastic, ink and toner cartridges, textiles and footwear, radiographs, small electrical and electronic devices, fluorescent and low-consumption light bulbs, paints, solvents, and their containers, aerosol cans, batteries, pressure containers like camping gas bottles or empty fire extinguishers, and thermometers.
Coordination and Frequency
This initiative is coordinated with the Waste Department of the Guía City Council, led by Juan Jiménez. The Mobile Clean Point visits Guía twice a month, always setting up in the Casas de Aguilar neighborhood to ensure easy access for local residents. In addition to this mobile service, the municipality also has a Comarcal Clean Point located in Llano Alegre, near the industrial zone, which is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Mondays from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Part of the "Gran Canaria Recicla" Campaign
The deployment of the Mobile Clean Point is part of the broader "Gran Canaria Recicla" campaign, aimed at promoting recycling and proper waste management across the island. This campaign reflects the Cabildo's commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement in maintaining a cleaner and more environmentally conscious Gran Canaria.
By providing these specialized waste collection services, the Cabildo and local authorities are making significant strides in encouraging responsible waste disposal practices among the community, ensuring that Gran Canaria remains a beautiful and sustainable place for both residents and visitors.
