Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Embarks on Extensive Road Renovation in Escaleritas Neighborhood
In a significant infrastructure upgrade, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has initiated a comprehensive asphalting project in the Escaleritas neighborhood, aiming to improve the condition of the local roads and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors.
Project Details and Funding
The project, funded through the Cooperation Plan of the Gran Canaria Cabildo, involves the repavimentation of a total of 33 streets across five neighborhoods in the city, with a specific focus on Escaleritas. This initiative is part of a larger plan that will see the asphalting of 60 streets over the current and next year, with an investment of 5.1 million euros.
Affected Areas and Schedule
The asphalting works, which began on October 29, have already transformed several streets in the Escaleritas neighborhood, including Tipógrafo Díaz Machado, Luis Braille, Magistral Roca Ponsa, and others. The upcoming week will see further work on key streets such as Juan Rodríguez Quegles, Ingeniero Ramírez Doreste, Letrado Ramírez Doreste, Eduardo Benítez González, and the plaza Obispo Frías.
- On Monday, the street Henry Dunant between Teobaldo Power and Obispo Romo will be closed for fresado.
- Tuesday will see asphalting on Eduardo Benítez González between Doctor Gómez Ulla and plaza Obispo Frías.
- Wednesday's focus will be on the plaza Obispo Frías and the street Ignacio de Lara.
- Thursday's work will involve repavimenting Eduardo Benítez González between Obispo Frías and Almirante Benítez Inglott.
Execution and Impact
The asphalting project is being executed by the company Surhisa Suárez e Hijos S.L. and is expected to continue in other neighborhoods such as Casablanca I and El Lasso once the work in Escaleritas is completed. The project aims not only to improve the road conditions but also to enhance traffic flow and safety, making the area more accessible and comfortable for both residents and visitors.
Community and Economic Benefits
This infrastructure upgrade is seen as a significant boost to the local community, enhancing the aesthetic and functional appeal of the neighborhood. Improved roads are expected to increase property values, attract more businesses, and generally improve the quality of life for those living in and around Escaleritas.
The City Council's commitment to this project underscores its dedication to maintaining and improving the city's infrastructure, ensuring that Las Palmas de Gran Canaria remains a desirable place to live, work, and visit.
