Free Public Transport Extended in Spain for 2025: A Boon for Expats and Locals Alike
In a significant move to enhance public transportation and alleviate financial burdens on citizens, the Spanish government has extended the free public transport initiative through 2025, benefiting various regions including the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Cantabria, and Asturias.
Extended Benefits for the Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands, a popular destination for both tourists and expats, will continue to enjoy free public transport throughout 2025. The national government has allocated €43 million in subsidies for the Autonomous Community, while the Balearic government has added its own subsidies totaling approximately €53 million to support minors, students, and pensioners[1].
