Rural Development Increases Funding for Damage Caused by Animal Disease Outbreak in Cantabria
In a significant move to address the ongoing animal health crisis, the Rural Development department in Cantabria has announced an increase in funding to mitigate the damages caused by a recent outbreak of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE) among livestock.
Impact on Local Livestock
As of November 8, 2024, the region has confirmed a total of 2,385 affected animals since the outbreak began. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the death of 414 animals, primarily affecting cattle and sheep farms across Cantabria. The outbreak has been particularly devastating for local farmers, who are not only dealing with the loss of livestock but also facing significant economic repercussions.
